The Senior Quality Engineer will plan and direct activities of a complex nature to assure the dimensional, material, and visual characteristics of a product’s design, as documented on drawings, specifications and quality standards, are consistently produced and that products of acceptable quality are sent to the customer. Leads major continuous improvement projects to improve or increase value for Customers, Shareholders and the Company.

Major Functional Duties/Responsibilities:

• Reviews customer specifications and/or drawings to determine compatibility with company drawings. Assures compliance to customer quality specifications, certifications, tests and other contractual requirements
• Specifies gages, measuring devices and testing equipment used to determine acceptability of production material.
• Coordinates the disposition of non-conforming materials both as identified during manufacture and as returned from customers.
• Responds to customer inquiries, concerns, and formal complaints providing, where necessary, immediate containment actions along with permanent corrective and preventive actions developed jointly by appropriate cross-functional problem solving teams.
• Develops and maintains Quality Inspection Plans (QIPs) as a means to control manufacturing processes and assure product compliance to production specifications.
• Determines quality capabilities of manufacturing equipment and processes. Reviews written reports summarizing the results of conducted studies making recommendations relative to changes in processing, engineering requirements, and product assurance techniques. Reviews statistical control charts for the purpose of monitoring product and process quality characteristics.
• Participates as the key Quality Assurance representative to support quality planning and control for assigned new or changing products during the Product Design Review process. Provides design input on critical dimensions and methods of inspection.
• Reviews and approves First Article Sample Requests (FASRs) for assigned product families.
• Provides data analysis and statistics summaries for parts produced on new or modified tooling and helps identify where process or tool changes may be needed to meet specifications.
• Requests, reviews, and approves repeatability and reproducibility studies and process capability studies on critical product measurements.
• Evaluates suitability of inspection methods and recommends alternative devices to improve repeatability and reproducibility of measurements. Performs gage studies on critical measurement devices.
• Provides special reports and data summaries as required by key customers to support their needs for existing products and /or gain their approvals for new products.
• Provides Quality Assurance support to Manufacturing Team including knowledge and appropriate application of Quality Engineering Sciences:

·         Process and Product Monitoring and Control Plans

·         Error-Proofing Techniques

·         Statistical Engineering Methods

·         Measurement System Analysis (MSA)

• Provides support to internal suppliers and services in meeting their quality and delivery goals and continuous improvement objectives.
