Job Description
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer applies approved engineering policies and practices in a manufacturing environment to improve operating performance and reduce waste, delays and costs. Provides for ongoing review and effective utilization of production methods, equipment layout, material handling, personnel, equipment and material.

Major Responsibilities

  • Designs and manufactures new processes and process changes within the facility by analyzing workflow, assembly methods and work force utilization in conjunction with Lean Manufacturing techniques
  • Works with Procurement, Sales & Marketing, and Research & Development in new product introductions to the facility to maximize process efficiencies and searches for cost savings/cost reduction opportunities
  • Recommends and implements improvements and/or modifications in sequence of operations, equipment utilization, and related matters
  • Identifies new suppliers, processes, and products to assist in the development of new products and striking tools
  • Work with Purchasing and all manufacturing functions to optimize quality, delivery, cost, safety, manufacturing engineering knowledge and information
  • Lead internal and external teams to perform a task
  • Write Capital Expenditure Requests
  • Communicates actively with suppliers for striking tools
  • Assists with the development of blended sourcing strategies
  • Works with Suppliers to get purchased product to meet all company standards

Additional Senior Manufacturing Engineer Competencies

  • Knowledge of product costing systems used in manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of machine design, products and processed used to manufacture products
  • Knowledgeable in Industrial Engineering techniques plus Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic And Pneumatic Components
  • Possess a vast working  knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques
  • Ability to perform Make/Buy analysis to determine manufacturing strategy
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to delegate responsibility and to work with others while coaching them to develop their capabilities
  • Ability to adapt to change in the workplace

Education Requirements

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or related field is preferred

  • 5-10 years experience in manufacturing environment and supervision
